Music
Our vision for Music at St Teresa’s
Music is a universal language. It is a unique form of expression which enables us to be creative, to develop communication skills and teamwork. Playing musical instruments and singing are physical activities which help develop coordination. Music can also benefit the emotional wellbeing and social development of our children. At St Teresa’s, we provide a variety of musical experiences and aim to inspire our children, instilling in them a lifelong love of music, and to give them the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to develop as musicians in the primary school and beyond.
We offer a range of musical activities both inside and outside the classroom. Music clubs include:
- Key Stage 1 Choir
- Key Stage 2 Choir
- Recorder Club
An annual highlight is the Nativity Concert where we perform with the other Catholic Primary Schools in the Diocese. Our choirs perform regularly at Masses, assemblies, school concerts and in the community.
At St Teresa's, children have the opportunity to sign up for private music lessons which take place during the school day. At present, we offer the following instruments: piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass and guitar.
